Large-scale Moscow's Assaults Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have caused power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water systems, according to city officials.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, the EU and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

He said that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults throughout the evening. A minor died and multiple civilians were injured.

The strikes succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the territory, parts of which are occupied by invading troops.

The entire country is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were preparing for more assaults.
