🔗 Share this article The network's Leading New Show of This Year Secures a Significant Extension for Seasons 2 and 3. During the fall season, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network unveiled a completely new animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. During a period often defined by dark humor, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and turned it into a surprise hit. A Significant Investment On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two more seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters. "I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come." Executive Acclaim In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who found the show and championed its distinctly quirky style. "All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Comforting Counterpoint Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about observing this endearing family navigate their daily lives. Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape. “There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.” Future Seasons Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to enjoy the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
